Airport operators are responsible for the maintenance of their grass areas, with the primary objective of ensuring the safety of operations. Facing the global decline in biodiversity, the commitment of everyone is essential and airport meadows have a strong potential for enhancement. Thus, in this context of green spaces maintenance, carried out by more or less regular mowing, it is possible to implement some best practices to improve biodiversity, while maintaining the level of safety at the airport.
In order to assist all operators in combining these two objectives, this technical guide centralizes, on the basis of an analysis of existing literature and interviews conducted with about 40 airports, information and recommendations for airport grass management.
