Technical sheet
At a time when biodiversity is in sharp decline in France and around the world, it is vital to take into account the environmental performance of green space maintenance activities. Some practices are more conducive to preserving biodiversity than others. These include actions to prevent and detect invasive alien species (IAS) at an early stage, particularly at airports. At airports, invasions by IAS are often linked to disturbances such as building work, the addition of soil from outside, or the planting of IAS for ornamental purposes. Their proliferation can have harmful consequences at airports for the safety of operations and operating costs. Local biodiversity also suffers.
